Current Advice from gov.uk:
“Venue managers should ensure sing-alongs or similar activities are avoided. You should also avoid environments that require you to raise your voice to communicate with anyone outside your household.”
In accordance with government restrictions, UkeStroud meetings will be cancelled for the time being. However, we do run weekly Zoom Sessions on a Thursday at 8 pm and Saturday morning at 10.00 am. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for the Zoom link.
Welcome to ukeStroud
UkeStroud is a friendly club for ukulele players from Stroud and surrounding areas.
It was formed in 2010 and meets on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursdays of the month at Pitchcombe Village Hall, GL6 6LP. The hall is situated behind the church and has a good-sized car park and easy access. (DIRECTIONS)
We meet from 8-10 pm and have a well-deserved break for hot drinks and biscuits.
The cost is £2.00.
Newcomers are very welcome if you want to find out more about playing this fun instrument. We don’t have the facility to teach absolute beginners at our Thursday meetings but do run separate beginners’ sessions and can recommend local teachers.
Song Sheets: We have a varied repertoire of well-known popular songs, many with a folk influence. Songs can be downloaded from the website page and most players use a tablet to store their music.
Contact: Norma Mills 01453 885543 email@example.com
The Saturday morning group meets monthly at Pitchcombe 9.30 -11.30 for less experienced players and tuition is given for chords and techniques.
Once a month, usually 4th Thursday, there is a session for people playing melodies, mostly from “TAB” creating a lovely ensemble sound.
THE STANLEY STRUMMERS
Another local group, with close links to UkeStroud, which meet every Tuesday from 7:15 to 9 pm, in the meeting room at Kings Stanley Village Hall, Broad Street, King’s Stanley GL10 3PN
ukeStroud is available to play for fundraising events, social groups and care homes. We encourage audience participation by projecting copies of the words.
We charge only a modest fee.
